On Wednesday July 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m., a Superior Court Justice will be asked to dismiss Harry Kopyto’s claim to overturn the takeover by lawyers of the paralegal profession. This decision made in 2007 has resulted in the decline of competitive pricing of legal services and resulted in access to justice being curtailed.
The Law Society is attempting to block Harry Kopyto’s claim in the Superior Court to have the takeover of the paralegal profession overturned. Harry Kopyto originally raised this issue before the good character panel chaired by Law Society appointee Margot Blight judging his application to be grandparented as a paralegal. She has refused to deal with his constitutional challenge to the takeover on the basis that he should be bringing it in the Superior Court. Now that he has brought it there, the Law Society is attempting to block him on July 4, 2012.
It is very important to be present at the hearing to ensure that the public interest is protected when this matter comes up to be heard on July 4, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at 393 University Avenue, 10th floor. Please be there to facilitate access to justice. It is your rights that are at stake.
