The Bad — Recusal
At the time of writing, Harry Kopyto is scheduled to be back before the Law Society (Museum Room, Osgoode Hall at 9:30 a.m.) next Tuesday, November 12 and Wednesday, November 13, 2013 for the continuation of his “good character” hearing. Although Harry’s motion to have the Chair of his hearing panel, Margot Blight, recuse herself was heard last month, no decision has yet been released.
In the event that the Panel Chair decides to resign from the Panel and the hearings are postponed or cancelled—all blog readers will be posted with this information.
The Good — Recognition
In the meantime, everyone is reminded that the Ontario Civil Liberties Association will be presenting Harry Kopyto with an inaugural award in recognition of his enduring commitment to individual rights and freedom in Ontario. The award will be presented at the Beit Zatoun House, 612 Markham Street (Bathurst and Bloor area) this coming Friday November 8th at 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The event is free. All welcome.
